Memento Mori in the form of a coffin
attributed to Chicart Bailly ivory, ebony, 1520-1530

Worms flies and toads feast on a decomposing body. This sinister figurine is a memento mori.
The Latin maxim serves as a reminder that man should never forget his mortality. Ultimately, death is inevitable and one must answer to God. Earthly matters, such as power and wealth, are temporary.
In death, we are all the same: a corpse being devoured by crawly creatures.

Walking is not always healthy. Let’s say I walk for a long time and some of my muscles stop working, they get exercised and the signal goes badly through my nerves. Then another group of muscles comes on, but they are weak and untrained and they start to ache too. So now I think it’s important to understand the mechanics of walking, how to relax the muscles after walking, and maybe I need to buy proper sneakers. I’ve been walking just in shoes for years, and I’ve only just realised that it’s probably not the right thing to do. I’ll be curious to explore this topic this week.
