I used to watch a movie about samurai, I don’t remember which one, and there was a moment when a Buddhist monk went through a battle. So the samurai stopped fighting. But how disgusting it is to watch a priest giving a cross and blessing to fight. If he is defending a religion, why doesn’t he go into battle himself? Like the famous Russian monk Peresvet did? But here priests do not defend anything, they bless to kill. From my moral compass, they are all murderers. I dislike Russian Orthodox Church headed by Kirill.

Catholics have now long focused on interesting moral questions, such as how artificial intelligence should behave. And it is turning into such an ethical institution. And I think that’s cool. On the other hand, I am repulsed by the impositions set forth by Catholics, for example, that a priest cannot marry or that there are some new concepts like purgatory.

Protestants are pretty pragmatic, but don’t seem deep enough to me.

The day before yesterday I was thinking about Buddha leaving his family. Buddhists call it Great Renunciation. Not a very holy thing to do. Defenders say he did come back after a while as the Buddha to show the right way. But we still don’t know if it was the right way or not. I sort out my thoughts about it still.

But the interesting thing is that this story was passed on from Buddhism to Islam through Ibn Babawayh and then to Christianity knowing as the saints Barlaam and Josaphat.

Anyway, where am I going with this? Well, first of all, there are a lot of moral questions here, and secondly, you can see how one culture mixes with another. Even Buddhism and Christianity are intertwined. At the end, I again conclude that religions remain in the realm of academic interest to me. And I am more attracted to philosophy without dogma, or something like Confucianism, where everything is based on a rational view of life.

By the way, Confucianism defeated the existential crisis 2000 years ago, for example, if there is a mess on a table table and you have nothing to do, just clean up the table.

Two names that changed my mind

Today I went through the notes on my old phone. And I found two interesting names that changed my view of Buddhism and mindset. Now I want to write more about those names.

I used to be very interested in Buddhism, and it fascinated me how one person could know so much. As you know, the Buddha gave insight into how consciousness works in detail, told about the structure of the world, and much more. You can argue about the reliability of these things, but what is undeniable is that the knowledge is very structured, vast, and could not have been created by an ordinary person. But I came across two academic volumes on Hinduism called “Indian Philosophy” written by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Where there is a clear trace of Hinduism in Buddhism. And of course the Buddha is still an unusual man in terms of reformer and vast knowledge. And my respect is that he was able to construct a new philosophy/religion without reference to the Vedas. But still, Buddhism has become more understandable to me from the point of view of the everyday person. And since then I’ve stopped being into it 😑

Another interesting personality is Jagdish Chandra Bose. I will not write about how much he has done, and it still amazes me that such names are not mentioned much, especially in schools. Interesting details can be found on Wikipedia. And what impressed me is that after his ideas, I completely stopped separating the living from the non-living. Simply said, for instance, without a non-living sun, there would be nothing living on earth.

I’m glad I shared these two names with you, sometimes I enjoy discussing them.
