I couldn’t understand before why Uber and Bolt drivers in Amsterdam often cancel trips and then another driver agrees to pick you up again. In general, the idea is that if you cancel a trip, they get a ‘bonus,’ and if you cancel and choose another trip, the price will be higher. All of this happens because there are only a few taxi drivers in the whole of Amsterdam. Typically, a 25 km ride here costs starts from 40-70€. The wonders of capitalism.

Everyone talks about scary things about AI. Here’s my version. Humanity will ask AI what to do. Then AI will say that we need to build a spaceship and send people into space because Earth is coming to an end. In the end, when people are in space, something terrible will happen to the spaceship, for example, it will explode. And AI will peacefully live on the planet.

I got a printer from a flea market here, a guy brought it from Russia. He was about to throw it away, saying there’s no ink for it in local shops. I took the printer from him, and indeed, there’s no ink available in local stores. The first thing that crossed my mind was that capitalist marketers found a way to make money, otherwise it would be possible to transport cartridges inexpensively between countries. The original ink number is 445, but everywhere in Europe, they sell 545. I researched products in the markets of Russia and Europe and concluded that the only difference is in the model numbers, and the actual product is identical. In the end, I bought a cartridge for 545, and everything works fine.

Conclusion: Knowing how capitalism works, you can fix a printer.

Second conclusion: Canon is a company of motherfuckers, but I’ll keep the printer for myself.

Another capitalist story. The company that sent me the cartridge asked me to dispose of it properly and send it back to them. What a concern for the environment! But, of course, they will just refill it with new ink and send it back to someone again.

In the conversation, I remembered that I had carpal tunnel syndrome. I wrote about what I did and how I managed to avoid it.

Here’s what helped me: I switched to a keyboard with light key presses, completely abandoned Ctrl and switched to Caps Lock. I also started using two mice in different positions. People often say that ergonomic mice are great, but even ergonomic ones were causing me hand pain, so switching was the way to go. I stopped using trackpads (they’re actually very non-ergonomic). Taking breaks, even during simple tasks. In general, after about six months, I started to see improvements, and within a year, everything was fine. Occasionally, my hands still hurt when I type on my phone, but overall, everything is great.

Just to clarify, the diagnosis wasn’t self-diagnosed; I was recommended surgery, but I chose not to go through with it. I have no regrets.

Today, there was news that Belarusian passports can only be renewed within Belarus itself. This just goes to show that all these permanent residence permits and temporary residence permits can’t replace a regular passport. It also means you really have to think twice before holding onto dual citizenship. Sitting on two chairs is tough. So people can be in a trap of own country very easily, and modern European institutions are not adequately prepared to handle new cases and new deviations.

Сегодня я обратился в посольство с вопросом о продвижении моей очереди на выход из гражданства, так как уже 4 месяца стою в очереди. В ответ получил консультацию по телефону, советуя разбить процедуру на несколько шагов. Поэтому я записался на проверку верности перевода и отдельно на выход из гражданства. Учитывая истечение моего русского заграничного паспорта в октябре (необходимого для процесса), мне сказали, что у меня есть шанс успеть. Таким образом, я стою в трех очередях: “Комплекс выхода из гражданства”, “Проверка верности перевода” и “Выход из гражданства”.

Похоже что услуга “Комплекс выхода из гражданства” — не работает совсем. Поэтому был совет разбить эту процедуру.
